Zandvoort circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of Zandvoort: the twisting lap in white with a navy edge on a soft green ground of dunes, with ochre patches of open sand, navy car parks and paddock buildings along the main straight, and a fine web of paths through the dunes.

Zandvoort is a seaside circuit in the dunes north of the town, and its lap rises and falls over the sand in a way the flat Dutch polders never could.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

The first race was held on 7 August 1948, on a track built after the war along roads the occupying German army had laid through the dunes. John Hugenholtz became its first director a year later, and the Hugenholtzbocht carries his name. The Tarzanbocht, at the end of the main straight, is said to be named after a local man who gave up his vegetable garden in the dunes on that condition.

When top-level racing returned, two corners were rebuilt with steep banking: the Hugenholtzbocht and the Arie Luyendykbocht onto the main straight. In between lie the Hunserug and the fast Scheivlak. On the artwork, patches of open sand break through the green dunes all around the lap.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Is the lap drawn the current one, with the banking?

Yes, the 4.253 km lap as it is raced today. Banking does not show on a flat map, but both banked corners are on the line: the Hugenholtzbocht early in the lap and the Arie Luyendykbocht at its end.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Zandvoort lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Zandvoort product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Zandvoort or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
