Circuit Gilles Villeneuve circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve: the long, narrow lap in red filling a white island set in black water, beside a straight rowing basin, with a second island and its bridge to the left and the street grid of the shore to the right.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve runs round Notre Dame Island in the St Lawrence River, an island that did not exist until it was built for Expo 67.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

The island was raised in about ten months from rock dug out for the Montreal Metro, then left with parkland and pavilions when the fair closed. The Canadian Grand Prix first came here in 1978, when Gilles Villeneuve won it in a Ferrari. After his death in 1982 the track was renamed in his honour.

On the artwork the island is a thin white shape in black water, and the lap fills almost all of it. The long back straight runs beside the Olympic Basin, the rowing course dug for the 1976 Games, with the Seaway and the south shore beyond. The neighbouring island of Saint Helen sits to the west, joined by a bridge.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Is the circuit really on an island?

Yes. The whole 4.362 km lap is on Notre Dame Island, a park for the rest of the year, and the map shows water on every side of it.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Circuit Gilles Villeneuve product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Circuit Gilles Villeneuve or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
