Anglesey circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of Anglesey Circuit in deep midnight blue: the International lap drawn in coral red, its long hairpins reaching north and east, among pale gold lanes, camp buildings and a winding kart track, with faint contours and darker ground towards the shore at the foot of the map.

Anglesey Circuit, Trac Môn in Welsh, sits on the island's west coast at Tŷ Croes, where the track runs above the Irish Sea with the mountains of Snowdonia across the water.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

The land was an army camp and later an RAF radar station, and when it closed in 1992 a motorcycle club, the Wirral 100, saw a racetrack in its roads and held the first meetings that October. A small club circuit followed, licensed in 1997, and in 2006 the place was rebuilt with four new layouts.

The artwork draws the longest of them, the International. It runs out through the Banking and Church, a fast sweep near the shore, then School, Rocket and Peel, and the long hairpins reach across the site like fingers. The Coastal layout leaves it to drop down the Corkscrew to the Bus Stop. A straight is named after Tom Pryce, Wales's only Grand Prix driver.

On the map the lap sits among the camp's old lanes and buildings, which the circuit grew out of. A kart track winds through the ground to the north, faint contours trace the slope of the site, and the land falls away towards the shore at the foot of the sheet, where the sea and the mountains beyond it are the view from every corner.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Which Anglesey layout is drawn?

The International circuit, the full 3.292 km lap. The Coastal, National and Club layouts share parts of it, so a day on any of them still belongs on this map: name yours in the line beneath the title.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Anglesey lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Anglesey product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anglesey or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
