Hungaroring circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of the Hungaroring, its twisting lap drawn in bright red on a near black ground, folding back on itself in a series of hairpins. Grey roads, darker woods and fine contour lines of the valley sides surround it in the noir style.

When the Hungaroring held its first Grand Prix in 1986 it was the first behind the Iron Curtain, on a circuit built in a valley at Mogyoród, just outside Budapest.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

Building began in October 1985 and the track opened the following March, put up in eight months, faster than any circuit of its rank before it. The site was chosen as a valley on purpose: from the slopes on either side, most of the lap can be seen from any single point, which is why the banks fill with spectators on a race weekend.

The lap itself is tight and twisting, and in 2003 the main straight was lengthened and the hairpin at its end tightened. On the artwork the line folds back on itself again and again, the contour lines of the valley sides wrap around it, and the roads, woods and paddock buildings of the site sit in the spaces the lap leaves.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Which Hungaroring layout is drawn?

The circuit as it has run since 2003, the 4.367 km lap with the lengthened main straight. Earlier races used a slightly shorter version on the same ground.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Hungaroring lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Hungaroring product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hungaroring or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
