Interlagos circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of Interlagos: the lap drawn in bright red on a deep midnight blue ground, its twisting infield section folded inside a long outer loop, ringed by service roads and contour lines, with main roads in gold running along the western edge.

Interlagos means 'between lakes', and the circuit takes its name from the district on the south side of São Paulo that lies between the Guarapiranga and Billings reservoirs.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

It opened in May 1940 on hilly ground, and the hills set the character of the lap, which runs anticlockwise. In 1985 it was renamed after José Carlos Pace, the Brazilian driver killed in a plane crash in 1977, and in 1990 the original layout was cut to roughly half its length, losing several long straights.

The artwork draws the lap as it is now. It drops through the S do Senna, swings down the Descida do Lago and round the Ferradura, then twists through Laranjinha and Bico de Pato in the infield before Mergulho and Junção. From there the long climb of the Subida dos Boxes, steep enough to test any engine, carries cars back past the pits.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Is this the old long circuit or today's?

Today's, the 4.308 km lap used since the layout was shortened in 1990. The infield loops drawn on the artwork are all part of the current lap.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Interlagos lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Interlagos product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Interlagos or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
