Castle Combe circuit sits on a former RAF airfield a short way from the village of the same name, near Chippenham in Wiltshire.
The lap, and the ground it runs over
Racing began on the airfield's perimeter road in 1950, and the lap still follows it: a fast run around the edge of the old airfield, with the fields it used to enclose still inside.
On the artwork the woods and the stream along one side are drawn around the lap, and the field boundaries inside the loop still show the airfield's shape.
The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.
Questions
Is the circuit in the village of Castle Combe?
Not quite. It is a short way outside the village, on the old airfield. The designer opens on the circuit itself, with the 3.003 km lap drawn.
Can I add my lap time or finishing position?
Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Castle Combe lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.
Where does the lap length come from?
It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.
Is this an official Castle Combe product?
No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Castle Combe or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.
How much does a race circuit print cost?
Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
