The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya sits on the edge of Montmeló, north of Barcelona, and few tracks are known as well by the people who race there.
The lap, and the ground it runs over
It opened in September 1991 and held the Spanish Grand Prix that same month. A year later, during the Barcelona Olympics, the road team time trial in cycling started and finished here. Since then it has become a favourite place for winter testing, so drivers and mechanics arrive knowing every corner of it, and the changeable wind is often what catches them out.
The longest line on the artwork is the pit straight, running diagonally across the map into the first corner, the main place to overtake. Around the lap the map draws the roundabouts, access roads and car parks that serve the site, with patches of woodland and the motorway corridor beyond.
The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.
Questions
What is the long straight line through the middle of the map?
The pit straight, the longest straight on the 4.677 km lap, where the cars reach their top speed before braking for the first corner.
Can I add my lap time or finishing position?
Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.
Where does the lap length come from?
It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.
Is this an official Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya product?
No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.
How much does a race circuit print cost?
Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
