Prescott circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of Prescott: a dark teal line climbs from the bottom of the map in a long S, turns through a tight hairpin and runs on to the top, over warm sand and terracotta relief shading with thin contours and coral roads to the right.

Prescott is the home of the Bugatti Owners' Club, a hillclimb on the edge of the Cotswolds just north of Cheltenham, built up the old drive of a country house.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

The club was founded in 1929 and spent years looking for a hill of its own. In 1937 Tom Rolt, who lived nearby, heard the Prescott estate was for sale, and the Giles brothers bought it and offered it to the club. Work on the road began that December, and members first tried the new hill in April 1938.

The original course followed the drive up to the house. In 1960 a loop was added to make the Long Course, which is used at every meeting except the Vintage Sports-Car Club's weekend. Unusually, cars come back down a separate return road to the paddock.

This is a climb, not a circuit. On the artwork the line rises from the bottom of the map in a long S, swings round a tight hairpin and runs on up the slope, where the shading shows the hill falling away on both sides.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Which Prescott course is drawn?

The Long Course, 1.076 km as measured from the map, which includes the loop added in 1960. The shorter original course is the same hill without that loop.

Can I add my time?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a time, a class, an event or a date all fit. The Prescott course is drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the course length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Prescott product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Prescott or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
