Circuit de Monaco circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of the Circuit de Monaco: the lap drawn in saffron yellow around the harbour, its piers and moorings in slate blue water, with the streets of the town climbing the sage green hillside above and a twisting hairpin at the top of the loop.

For most of the year these are ordinary streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine, and the lap on the artwork is simply a drive round the harbour.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

The idea of racing here came from Antony Noghès, president of the Automobile Club de Monaco, and the first race was run in 1929, won by William Grover-Williams in a Bugatti. Turning the streets into a circuit still takes about six weeks of building, and about three more to take it all down again.

The artwork shows why there is nowhere else like it. The line hugs the quays of the harbour, climbs the hillside to Casino Square, drops back through hairpins towards the sea and runs through the tunnel beneath a hotel before rejoining the waterfront. The highest point of the lap sits well above the lowest, a climb you can trace in the shading of the hill behind the port.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Is the whole street lap drawn?

Yes, the full 3.319 km lap used for the race, from the harbour up to the casino and back. The streets beneath it are the town's everyday roads, which the map draws as it finds them.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Circuit de Monaco lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Circuit de Monaco product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Circuit de Monaco or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
