Pembrey circuit map print

Not a track outline: a real map of the circuit and the land around it.

A map artwork of Pembrey in crisp black and white: the lap drawn as a thin red line, a rough triangle with a long sweep across its base, surrounded by black roads, airfield service tracks and a small kart track, with faint grey contours on white ground.

Pembrey, near Burry Port in Carmarthenshire, calls itself the home of Welsh motorsport, and it took Welsh drivers most of the 1980s to build it.

The lap, and the ground it runs over

When the circuit at Llandow, near Cardiff, closed, the Welsh Race Drivers' Association was formed in 1981 to find a new one. They found it on part of the old RAF Pembrey airfield, by then a chicken farm owned by the borough council. The first race was held on 21 May 1989, and the British Automobile Racing Club took a long lease the following year.

The airfield has its own story. In June 1942 a German pilot, lost after a dogfight over the Bristol Channel, took it for the English Channel and landed his Focke-Wulf here. The circuit that followed is short and open, and teams have long come to it for testing. On the artwork the lap is a single red line round the old airfield ground, with its roads and service tracks drawn in black around it and a small kart track off to the east.

The designer opens with the lap already drawn and the frame fitted to it. Write your title and the line beneath it, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

Questions

Which Pembrey layout is drawn?

The full circuit, 2.339 km as measured from the map. The rallycross course uses part of the same track with an off-road section of its own.

Can I add my lap time or finishing position?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so a lap time, a result, a race or a date all fit. The Pembrey lap and its length are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Where does the lap length come from?

It is measured from the track itself, as mapped by OpenStreetMap contributors, so it can differ by a few metres from the figure a circuit publishes.

Is this an official Pembrey product?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pembrey or its owners. The name says which place is mapped: this is a map of the circuit and the land around it, drawn from OpenStreetMap.

How much does a race circuit print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
