The Leeds Half Marathon route, printed

The 2026 course, 21.1 km, from Headingley, Leeds.

A map artwork of the Leeds Half Marathon course: the route drawn as a dark teal line from Headingley north towards Otley and back, over warm terracotta ground with the hills shaded, red-brown roads, the River Aire to the south-west and a reservoir to the north-east, and a sample name, the race day and the distance printed beneath.

The Leeds Half starts and finishes at Headingley Stadium and runs a long out-and-back up Otley Road, turning on the green edge of the city beyond Golden Acre Park.

The half now shares its morning with the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, setting off an hour after the full race in 2026, and both end inside Headingley Stadium. Burrow played his rugby league for the Leeds Rhinos, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019 and died on 2 June 2024. At the first marathon in his name, in May 2023, his former teammate Kevin Sinfield pushed him round the course in an adapted wheelchair, then lifted him out of it and carried him over the line in the stadium. The event raises money for the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease and the MND Association.

The 2026 course starts on St Michael's Lane and goes out by Victoria Road to loop Woodhouse Moor, with a cheer point at the Parkinson Steps of the University of Leeds, before coming back through Headingley at four miles. From there it is Otley Road, all the way out. The road climbs steadily out of Headingley to the ring road at Lawnswood, then levels as the houses give way to fields at Adel and Golden Acre Park. The turn comes on Leeds Road, just past the eight mile marker.

Everything after the turn is the same road in reverse. Through the middle miles the two directions pass each other, so runners still heading out see the quicker ones already on their way back, and the race's last three miles run back down Otley Road into Headingley. That makes for a fast finish, mostly downhill, ending inside the stadium where the race began. On a map the outward and return legs sit on top of one another, so the course looks like a single road with a loop at each end.

Questions

Where does the course turn round?

On Leeds Road beyond Golden Acre Park, just after the eight mile marker. From there runners come straight back down the same road to Headingley.

Does the half follow the marathon course?

For the first part, yes: both start on St Michael's Lane, loop Woodhouse Moor and head up Otley Road. The marathon carries on north towards Otley and Pool, while the half turns back on Leeds Road.

Can I add my finishing time?

Yes. The title and the line beneath it are yours to write, so your name, your finishing time and your club all fit. The 2026 course and its distance are drawn for you, and you see the finished artwork before you buy.

Is this an official Leeds Half Marathon print?

No. Maps & Son is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the organisers of the Leeds Half Marathon; the name says which course is mapped. The course is drawn from a route file we use with permission.

Can I change the map?

Yes. The designer opens with the course drawn and the map framed around it. Move the map if you like, choose from 19 styles, and preview the finished artwork before you buy.

How much does a race route print cost?

Prints start at £24.95, printed on 240 gsm smooth fine-art paper, with delivery included to the UK and 25 other countries. Sold as A4, A3, A2 or A1 prints, unframed, at standard sizes so a ready-made frame will fit.
